This story involves the explanation concerning the two family names Bythwood and Brown of my grandfather Henry Bythwood, Jr.; who was my grandma Betty Jones first husband. They both were my mother parents Henry Bythwood (a.k.a. Henry Brown) born about 1908 in Quitman, Georgia and her mother Betty Jones born about 1913 in Brewster, Florida. They had one child together, my mother Catherine Bythwood born 1929 in Florida. She married Moses William Sampson born 1924 in Florida children Marsha Sampson born 1946 in Florida, Delmorris Sampson born 1948 in Florida, Mae Linda Sampson born 1950 in Florida and Moses William Sampson, Jr. born 1953 in New York.  With regards to my grandma Bet’s husband Grandpa Henry Bythwood/Brown’s last name. It was said, that Grandpa Henry changed his name from Henry Bythwood to that of Henry Brown after he got into some sort of trouble with the law in the State of Florida.       Therefore, after the birth of my mother Catherine Bythwood he left Grandma Betty Jones with my Catherine in the State of Florida and moved to the State of Ohio. While living in Middletown Ohio, he married Helen Maguire born 1912 in Georgia. They had eight children, Dora Lee Brown, Rose Ann Brown, Catherine Brown, Louise Brown, Doris Brown, Geraldine Brown, Donald Brown and Louis Brown all born in Ohio.

However, my mother Catherine [Bythwood] Sampson finally did locate her father my grandpa Henry Bythwood, Jr. aka Henry Brown after she was grown. And she eventually met his other family (her other sisters and brothers.) Some of them even came too stayed with her and eventually moved to Albany, New York as permanent residents. Later, I will discuss the many spellings of his last name Bythewood.
